Chief Minister Increases Kamaraj Housing Scheme Subsidy to Rs 5 Lakh

Chief Minister N Rangasamy announced in the assembly that the subsidy for the Kamaraj Housing scheme has been increased to Rs 5 lakh, with beneficiaries also receiving an additional Rs 5 lakh under a central scheme. Additionally, support for retired and working reporters has been enhanced, including free laptops and pensions.

Chief Minister N Rangasamy announced in the assembly on Tuesday a significant increase in the subsidy for the Kamaraj Housing scheme, raising it to Rs 5 lakh. Beneficiaries will also receive an additional Rs 5 lakh under a central government housing scheme, totaling Rs 10 lakh in aid aimed at replacing huts with concrete structures. The scheme honors former Tamil Nadu chief minister K Kamaraj.

Rangasamy also revealed enhancements for the press community, increasing the monthly assistance for retired reporters from Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000. Currently working presspersons will be issued free laptops. Additionally, house sites will be distributed to journalists not previously covered under the scheme, with new applications for monthly pensions being expedited.

These announcements were made as Rangasamy wrapped up the debate on demands for grants to departments under his purview, showcasing the government's commitment to improving housing and supporting the press.
