The 31-year-old victim was discovered dead last Friday, with police confirming she was raped and murdered. A police volunteer was arrested in connection with the crime. As the protests expanded on Tuesday, over 8,000 government doctors in Maharashtra, including Mumbai, stopped all services except emergencies, according to local media.

In New Delhi, junior doctors displayed posters reading, 'Doctors are not punching bags,' as they protested outside a major government hospital. Reports indicated similar protests disrupted hospital services in cities such as Lucknow and Goa. IMA General Secretary Anil Kumar J Nayak urged Health Minister J P Nadda to enhance security in medical facilities during a meeting on Tuesday. The health ministry has yet to comment.
