BSF troops have been placed on high alert to secure the riverine International Border in Jammu against potential terrorist infiltration. The induction of state-of-the-art patrol boats and modern weaponry has strengthened this initiative. Recently inducted women troops contribute equally to this mission, patrolling shoulder-to-shoulder with male counterparts.
Officers report 24x7 surveillance along the Chenab river. The BSF personnel, armed with modern equipment, are resolute to maintain security, even under challenging conditions. The use of specialised patrol boats ensures heightened vigilance as directed by their commanders to counter infiltration attempts.
Given the surge in terror incidents, with over 70 foreign militants breaching the border this year, the BSF’s Water Wing personnel undergo rigorous training to handle the strong currents of the Chenab river, which can complicate patrolling efforts. However, their duty to safeguard the nation remains unwavering, especially in light of the recent spike in violence in the Jammu region.
