The Meghalaya government has issued a call for professionals and students from the state who are living or working abroad to register their details. This initiative, while not mandatory, is strongly encouraged to aid in emergency situations.
Home Secretary Cyril V Diengdoh highlighted the importance of such a database, citing recent difficulties faced during evacuations from violence-hit regions such as Bangladesh and war-torn Ukraine. The lack of a comprehensive central database had complicated efforts to reach those in need of assistance.
The government aims to create a centralized repository of information to facilitate quicker and more efficient rescue and repatriation efforts. Professionals and students are advised to submit their details online at meghalayaone.gov.in.
