A non-bailable warrant has been issued against AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh and five others after they failed to surrender following their conviction in a long-standing road blockade protest case.
The court had upheld a 45-day jail sentence on August 6 and directed the defendants to surrender by August 9. On Tuesday, the special magistrate of the MP/MLA court, Shubham Verma, issued the warrants after the accused did not appear.
The next hearing, postponed initially due to the judge's leave, is now set for August 20. The case dates back to June 19, 2001, when Singh and others protested over power issues by blocking a road.
