Gallantry Awards Bestowed on Heroic UP Police Officers

The officers honored are from various ranks and were recognized for their 'extraordinary actions' in these lethal encounters.

Seventeen Uttar Pradesh police officers who participated in the lethal encounters with notorious criminals, including the infamous son of slain gangster Atiq Ahmad, have been awarded gallantry medals. These awards, announced ahead of Independence Day, highlight the bravery and dedication of the officers involved.
Among the recognized officers are two deputy superintendents of police, four inspectors, three sub-inspectors, four head constables, and four constables. They were commended for their extraordinary actions in four separate incidents, which resulted in the demise of high-profile criminals.
Director General of Police Prashant Kumar praised the officers for their zero-tolerance approach towards crime and wished them continued success in their careers. The gallantry medals were part of a larger initiative that awarded a total of 213 medals to security personnel across the country.
