Security arrangements have been significantly tightened across Tripura to guarantee peaceful Independence Day celebrations, authorities confirmed on Wednesday.
A detailed security plan has been organized at the Assam Rifles ground, where Chief Minister Manik Saha is set to hoist the national flag, a senior police officer stated. Assistant Inspector General (Law and Order) Ananta Das mentioned that the additional central forces, initially deployed for the three-tier panchayat elections, will remain stationed until the Independence Day activities are concluded.
The Center had earlier deployed 29 companies of CRPF and SSB to maintain law and order during the panchayat elections.
Das assured, 'Currently, there are sufficient forces deployed across the state to ensure a peaceful Independence Day. Additionally, police have been instructed to increase vigilance in their respective jurisdictions to uphold law and order.'
Security along the international border has been intensified following recent incidents of violence in Bangladesh. The BSF has been placed on high alert to prevent any potential intrusion.
