Tributes Paid to Captain Deepak Singh Amidst Ongoing Search for Terrorists

A comprehensive search operation is underway to track the terrorists who fled the encounter site, predominantly focusing on the Assar belt of Doda district.

A solemn wreath-laying ceremony took place in Jammu, where high-ranking officials including General-officer-Commanding (GoC) White Knight Corps Lieutenant General Navin Sachdeva, Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar, and Additional Director General of Police Anand Jain paid their respects to Singh at the IAF station.

Numerous officers from various branches of civil administration, army, police, and paramilitary forces also attended the ceremony to honor the fallen captain.

Captain Deepak Singh and a terrorist were killed during the encounter in Assar, Doda district on Wednesday. Additionally, one civilian was injured in the clash. Singh, critically wounded, succumbed to his injuries after being transferred to a military hospital.

The search operations for the escaped terrorists continue, with security forces expanding their efforts across the hilly terrains of Doda and Udhampur districts.

This encounter marks the fourth such incident in recent days within the Udhampur-Doda-Kishtwar region. Security forces have engaged in multiple clashes with terrorists, with a related operation occurring on Sunday in the forest areas of Nownatta and Basantgarh.

Earlier on June 26, three terrorists, allegedly from Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), were killed in a gunfight in the Gandoh area of Doda district.
