The UK foreign ministry has not confirmed travel plans but issued a statement from Lammy urging Middle Eastern partners to 'choose peace.' He emphasized that the current moment is crucial for global stability and that the next hours and days could define the future of the region, calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

'The UK will continue to use every diplomatic lever to bring about a ceasefire,' Lammy added. A new round of ceasefire talks was underway in Doha, Qatar, aimed at ending 10 months of fighting in Gaza and securing the release of 115 Israeli and foreign hostages.

The negotiations come as Iran is poised to retaliate against Israel following the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.
