CRPF Director General Anish Dayal Singh has assumed the additional role of Director General of the National Security Guard (NSG) following the reassignment of Nalin Prabhat as the special director general of Jammu and Kashmir Police. Prabhat's new role follows the retirement of R R Swain on September 30.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) stated that Singh, a seasoned 1988-batch IPS officer from the Manipur cadre, will maintain this additional responsibility until a regular appointment is made or further orders are issued. Prabhat, belonging to the 1992 IPS batch, was recently transferred to the AGMUT cadre from Andhra Pradesh.
This recent NSG responsibility adds to Singh's current oversight of the Central Industrial Security Force, a role he has held since August. Official sources indicate that further IPS appointments are anticipated soon, affecting key positions such as the Border Security Force and Narcotics Control Bureau, both soon to witness leadership changes.
