Police in Maharashtra's Palghar district have successfully apprehended a man who had been evading arrest for allegedly raping his foster daughter in 2021. The suspect, Anil Bidlan, was captured in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, on the basis of a tip-off received by the local crime unit.
The 19-year-old victim reported that Bidlan raped her at her residence in Nalasopara, Maharashtra, in September 2021, and later threatened to kill her. The police had earlier registered a case against him under sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
After locating Bidlan in Navoday Nagar, Haridwar, authorities quickly moved in and placed him under arrest. Further investigations into the incident are ongoing, according to the police.
