Electrocution Tragedy in Delhi: Man Dies While Pumping Out Rainwater

A 40-year-old man, Lallan Mishra, died from electrocution while pumping out rainwater near his house in Delhi's Prem Nagar area. Mishra was found unconscious and later declared dead in a hospital. His wife claimed waterlogging due to rain prompted Mishra to use a pump from the MLA's office.

In a tragic incident, a 40-year-old man named Lallan Mishra, a resident of Agar Nagar in Kirari, lost his life due to electrocution while attempting to pump out rainwater near his home in northwest Delhi's Prem Nagar area on Thursday.

The police received a call about the incident and found Mishra lying unconscious. He was immediately rushed to the hospital, where he was declared dead, an officer reported. Preliminary investigations indicated that Mishra was electrocuted when he tried to connect a water pump to a switchboard.

According to Mishra's wife, the area around their house had been waterlogged following heavy rainfall, prompting Mishra to borrow a pump from the local MLA's office to remove the water. Around 2:30 pm on Thursday, she discovered her husband lying in the water with a wire wrapped around his body. The BJP has accused Kirari MLA Rituraj Govind of negligence leading to Mishra's death. No immediate response from Govind has been recorded. The body was handed over to Mishra's family post-mortem, and legal action has been initiated while an investigation continues.
