Colombian authorities will significantly boost security around the nation's top courts in the capital, Bogota, following potential threats of attack, the president's office announced on Friday.

The measures include advanced surveillance systems, anti-explosive gear, drone monitoring, and specialized security units, according to the statement. This decision follows a police report revealing the discovery of a model of the Palace of Justice, housing the country's top courts, alongside explosives and ammunition in southern Bogota.

These enhanced security protocols will not only be implemented at the Palace of Justice but also extended to other courts across the country. The move comes in the shadow of the 1985 incident when the M19 rebel group took over the Palace, resulting in over 100 deaths and several missing persons following a standoff with the military.
