Pampa Sagar Dam's Crest Gate Repaired After Chain Snap Incident

The Pampa Sagar dam's crest gate in Karnataka's Koppal district has been repaired after its chain snapped on August 11, causing the release of 35 TMC of water to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Engineers worked with JSW Group and contractors to restore the gate under the supervision of Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar.

The Pampa Sagar dam's damaged crest gate in Koppal district has been successfully repaired, according to Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar. The gate malfunctioned on August 11, causing significant water release downstream.

The dam, which can hold 104 TMC, had to release about 35 TMC to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana following heavy rains. Steps were taken to prevent further damage and facilitate repair work.

Engineers, led by hydro-mechanical expert N Kannaiah Naidu and assisted by JSW Group and contractor firms, conducted the repairs. Shivakumar emphasized the need for dual chains to prevent similar incidents.
