Tragic Fate: Woman Constable's Suicide Sparks Investigation in Fatehpur

Priyanka Saroj, a woman constable stationed in Fatehpur district, allegedly ended her life by hanging herself in her room, the police reported on Monday. Saroj, originally from Jaunpur's Patora, had served at the Thariyanv police station for the past five years. Authorities discovered her hanging from a ceiling fan in her government residence late Sunday night, Circle Officer Arun Kumar Rai confirmed.

Preliminary investigations suggest that Saroj hanged herself after engaging in a phone conversation around 11 PM, according to officials. Her father, Sankata Prasad, lodged a complaint stating his daughter was set to marry her brother's brother-in-law, Chandan, in November, revealed Inspector-in-Charge Arvind Kumar Rai.

Prasad further alleged that Chandan had been threatening Saroj, saying he would call off the wedding, a factor believed to have contributed to her tragic decision, the Inspector added. The police have registered a case based on Prasad's complaint, and further investigations are currently ongoing.
