Eighteen Bangladeshi nationals and five Indian facilitators were arrested from three locations in Tripura, according to police reports released on Monday.

Acting on specific information about the presence of Bangladeshi citizens at Lamprapara in Gumati district, police conducted a raid on Sunday and apprehended eight individuals, Assistant Inspector General (Law and Order) Ananta Das confirmed.

On Saturday night, another group consisting of seven Bangladeshi nationals and five Indian facilitators were detained in the Sidhai area of West Tripura district. In a separate Monday operation, three more Bangladeshi nationals were arrested at the MBB Airport area in West Tripura.

Das stated that this swift action was part of an intensified border surveillance strategy aimed at preventing potential intrusion following political changes in Bangladesh. ''The arrest of these 18 Bangladeshi nationals is a result of increased border vigilance. We will maintain heightened patrolling efforts in coordination with BSF personnel,'' he added.
