This development coincides with ongoing protests over the suspected sexual abuse of two kindergarten girls at a school in Badlapur town near Mumbai. The teacher, who works at the Zilla Parishad school at Kazikhed, is currently being interrogated, according to a police official.

The accusations were formally lodged through an FIR at the Ural police station, where six girls reported the teacher's inappropriate behavior over the past four months. The case came to light when the students called the toll-free number of the Child Welfare Committee, whose members subsequently visited the school and registered the complaint. Asha Mirge, a former member of the State Women's Commission, has called for stringent action against the accused.
