Ukraine's Unprecedented Drone Assault on Moscow

Ukraine launched a substantial drone attack on Moscow on Wednesday, in what Russian officials described as one of the largest strikes on the capital since the conflict began in February 2022. All 11 drones were intercepted by Russia's air defenses.

The escalation follows an August 6th incident where Ukraine crossed into Russia's western Kursk region with thousands of soldiers. This latest drone strike is part of Ukraine’s ongoing campaign against Russian refineries and airfields.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin confirmed some drones were shot down over Podolsk, 38 km south of the Kremlin. Despite tensions, everyday life in Moscow appeared unaffected, with crowded cafes and shops. There were no reported injuries or damages.
