Bihar Police conducted a major crackdown on drug peddlers in Patna, leading to the arrest of 176 individuals and the seizure of significant amounts of narcotics and other contraband, officials revealed on Thursday.

According to a statement from Patna Police, the operation, carried out on Wednesday, resulted in the registration of 54 FIRs. Seized items included 10 grams of brown sugar, 30 grams of smack, 12.55 kg of ganja, 23 cartons of foreign liquor, and 896.5 litres of country-made alcohol. Additionally, five vehicles, a pistol, and a live cartridge were confiscated.

Despite the alcohol ban imposed by the Nitish Kumar government in April 2016, illegal liquor smuggling continues to challenge law enforcement. Investigators are now probing possible connections to interstate narcotics trafficking gangs.
