Two Arrested for Alleged Molestation of Minors in Assam

In a disturbing turn of events, two individuals have been arrested in Assam's Lakhimpur district for allegedly molesting minors in separate incidents, according to a police officer.

The arrests took place on Friday night in areas under the Panigaon police station. One of the accused, a 'maulana' (religious teacher), reportedly sexually harassed a nine-year-old girl during a class a few days ago. The accused had been absconding but was finally apprehended on Friday night.

The second incident involved a shop owner who allegedly tried to sexually assault a young girl inside his shop on Thursday. Both accused have been charged under relevant sections of the POCSO Act, and investigations are ongoing, according to the police officer.
