Tragic Drone Strikes in Mali: 21 Civilians, Including 11 Children, Among the Dead
At least 21 people, including 11 children, were killed in drone strikes on the town of Tinzaouaten in north Mali. The strikes, believed to be carried out by Mali's army with Russian Wagner mercenaries' involvement, caused significant casualties and material damage. The incident follows recent heavy losses for Mali's military and Wagner forces.
At least 21 people, including 11 children, were killed in drone strikes targeting Tinzaouaten, a town in north Mali, on Sunday, according to Tuareg rebel reports.
In a statement, the Strategic Framework for the Defence of the People of Azawad (CSP-DPA) highlighted that the strikes hit a pharmacy and groups of civilians, leading to dozens of injuries and severe damage. The rebel coalition accused Mali's army and Wagner mercenaries of orchestrating the attacks, with drones allegedly operated by Burkina Faso.
Mali's military and Russian officials have not responded to these claims. The town near the Algerian border has been the site of ongoing conflict, with previous attacks in July resulting in substantial losses for Malian troops and Wagner personnel.
