Buenos Aires police have arrested Leonardo Bertulazzi, a former member of the far-left Red Brigade, wanted by the Italian justice system for various crimes. The Argentine government made the announcement on Thursday.
Bertulazzi faces accusations of kidnapping and criminal association, crimes he allegedly committed as part of the Red Brigade, a militant group that terrorized Italy in the 1970s and 1980s.
The ex-guerrilla fighter had lived in Argentina for years as a refugee, a status recently revoked by President Javier Milei's ultra-liberal administration. 'Bertulazzi is responsible for crimes that undermined democratic values and the lives of many victims,' the government noted in a statement.
