Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday reviewed the ground situation of his Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency following the recent spell of heavy rains in Gujarat, issuing necessary instructions to the administration.
Several areas in Ahmedabad, part of Shah's Gandhinagar constituency, were flooded with knee-deep water after heavy rains earlier this week.
Taking stock of the situation, Shah directed officials to restore public life, prevent epidemics, and address citizens' immediate concerns. With the monsoon weakening on Friday, Shah discussed the situation with collectors and municipal commissioners of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, according to a BJP release.
He instructed officials to expedite the disposal of rainwater and clean roads and drains urgently. Shah also emphasized the need for immediate fogging and pesticide spraying to prevent disease spread following the rains, the release added.
