Hundreds of Kuki-Zo community members gathered at Jantar Mantar in a protest demanding action against Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh. In an audio clip, the CM allegedly boasts about leading violence against the community.
The Kuki Students' Organisation organized the protest, attended by 500 people wearing black clothes, chanting slogans, and playing patriotic songs. They claim ethnic cleansing has been ongoing since May, led by the majority Meitei community with government support.
Dismissing the recording as doctored, the Manipur government faces accusations of orchestrating attacks on Kuki-Zo villages. Protesters are calling for Singh's arrest, a Supreme Court-supervised investigation, and a separate administration for Kuki-Zo areas.
