A 53-year-old Assistant Commissioner of Police died while on duty here, prompting Chief Minister M K Stalin to express his condolences for the officer's sudden demise.

In an official statement, the CM detailed that Assistant Commissioner of Police Sivakumar collapsed at around 12:45 PM while on security duty at Anna Salai and was immediately transported to a government hospital.

Despite prompt medical attention, Sivakumar did not respond to treatment and was declared dead at the hospital. Expressing his sorrow, Stalin announced a relief package of Rs 25 lakh for the ACP's grieving family.
