In a critical visit to the flood-stricken regions of Mahabubabad district, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is closely assessing the situation on the ground. His visit comes amidst torrential rains that have resulted in significant damage and loss of life across the state.
According to official reports, Reddy spent the night in Khammam after touring several areas with his cabinet colleagues. As the state grapples with the aftermath of the floods, Reddy is pushing for immediate federal assistance and has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to declare the floods a national calamity.
Preliminary estimates indicate the damage is around Rs 5,000 crore, with the state seeking Rs 2,000 crore in aid from the Centre. Relief efforts continue, with over 100 camps sheltering 4,000 people, as officials remain on high alert for further rainfall.
