India’s top military commanders gathered in Lucknow on Wednesday to deliberate on the government's ambitious plan to establish ‘Integrated Theatre Commands’ and reviewed the national security challenges, especially along the borders with China and Pakistan.
The conference, chaired by Chief of Defence Staff Gen Anil Chauhan, along with chiefs of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, concentrated on setting up joint command and control centers and logistics nodes. This conference is the first of its kind and primarily aimed at achieving better jointness and integration among the armed forces.
Gen Chauhan emphasized the need for operational preparedness and modernization to stay combat-ready and relevant. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will also address the apex-level military leadership at the conference. The deliberations come amid the government's plans to integrate the capabilities of the Army, Navy, and Air Force to better utilize resources for wars and operations.
