Jainoor town in Kumuram Bheem Asifabad district remained peaceful on Thursday, a day after protests against an autorickshaw driver's alleged rape and murder attempt on a tribal woman sparked communal tension, resulting in a curfew.
The opposition BRS and BJP criticized the Congress government over the incident, with the BJP accusing the administration of masking the issue as communal.
Authorities have imposed prohibitory orders and deployed additional forces, including the Rapid Action Force (RAF). The law and order situation remains under close surveillance, with teams investigating the violence and making arrests.
A bandh call by tribal organizations on Wednesday led to the burning of shops and stone-pelting, escalating into further arson and property damage.
The victim's statement led to the accused man's arrest on charges, including sexual assault and intent to murder, under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
State Women and Child Welfare Minister Danasari Anasuya visited the victim and her family, providing financial assistance and assuring them of stringent action against the perpetrator.
