Rural India Achieves Over 50% Tap Water Coverage Under Har Ghar Jal

All states and Union territories in India have achieved over 50% coverage of tap water connections in rural households under the Har Ghar Jal scheme. Initiated by the Union Ministry of Jal Shakti in 2019, the mission aims to provide 55 litres of tap water per person per day by 2024.

All states and Union territories have successfully surpassed the 50% mark in providing tap water connections to rural households, as per recent official data.

Launched under the Har Ghar Jal scheme, the initiative aims to ensure every rural household has tap water connections by the end of the year.

Currently, 11 states and UTs boast 100% coverage, including Goa, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Haryana, Telangana, and others. On the lower end, West Bengal, Rajasthan, and Kerala show the least coverage.
