A Jordanian gunman killed three Israeli civilians at the Allenby Bridge border crossing in the occupied West Bank before being fatally shot by security forces on Sunday, according to Israeli authorities.
This incident marks the first attack of its kind at this crossing since October 7, when Hamas conducted an assault on southern Israel, igniting conflict throughout the region. The attack occurred in a commercial cargo area under Israeli control where Jordanian trucks offload cargo entering the West Bank.
The assailant, a 39-year-old truck driver from the influential Huwaitat tribe in southern Jordan, approached the crossing, exited his vehicle, and opened fire at Israeli security personnel. Jordanian officials are investigating the shooting, and the crossing has been temporarily closed.
