The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday alleged that Dr. Sangeeta Ghosh, wife of Sandip Ghosh, former principal of Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College, acquired two properties without appropriate approval from West Bengal authorities.

The federal agency, in its statement, revealed the discovery of documents pertaining to multiple properties, including houses and flats, owned by the couple and their relatives during searches in Kolkata.

Sandip Ghosh is under investigation by the ED for alleged financial irregularities and money laundering, following a CBI FIR. His troubles began after the rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor at the hospital. The ED also disclosed that Dr. Sangeeta Ghosh purchased two immovable assets without proper governmental approval.

The agency highlighted that several incriminating documents and digital devices were seized during the raids. These documents suggest that the properties were acquired using the proceeds of crime. On Tuesday, a Kolkata court sent Sandip Ghosh and his associates to judicial custody until September 23.
