A Kalyan court in Maharashtra's Thane district has sentenced a 51-year-old man to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment for the 2017 killing of his stepbrother. The additional sessions court judge, P R Ashturkar, also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on the convict, Vishnu Rajaram Ramgude.

According to additional public prosecutor S R Kulkarni, the incident stemmed from a property dispute between Vishnu and his 45-year-old stepbrother, Tukaram Ramgude, who was an employee at the Ordnance Factory in Ambarnath.

On January 21, 2017, when the victim returned home from work, Vishnu confronted him, escalated the argument, and attacked him with an iron rod. The victim sustained severe injuries and, after initial treatment in Ambarnath and further care in Pune, succumbed to his injuries in November 2017. The judge concluded that the charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder were proven, leading to Vishnu's conviction.
