A large-scale Ukrainian drone attack on Russia caused a massive explosion at a major arsenal in the Tver region on Wednesday, leading to the evacuation of a nearby town. War bloggers and some media reported the incident, with unverified videos showing a large fireball lighting up the night sky and multiple explosions echoing across a lake approximately 380 km (240 miles) west of Moscow.

NASA satellites detected intense heat emanating from an area of about 14 square kilometers (5 square miles) at the site, and earthquake monitoring stations detected what appeared to be a small earthquake. Ukrainian-born, pro-Russian military blogger Yuri Podolyaka stated, "The enemy hit an ammunition depot in the area of Toropets."

In a muted response, Russian state media reported the incident with limited details due to military censorship laws. Tver region governor Igor Rudenya confirmed the drone strike and subsequent fire, which led to the evacuation of some residents. By midday, he reported that the situation had stabilized, the fire was extinguished, and no fatalities were recorded. Ukrainian security sources indicated that the drone attack destroyed a warehouse storing missiles and artillery ammunition.
