In a shocking incident, the dismembered body of a 29-year-old woman was discovered in a house in Malleswaram, police sources revealed on Saturday.

The victim, identified as Mahalakshmi, was found cut into over 30 pieces and stuffed in a refrigerator, according to police officials. Senior officers quickly barricaded the road leading to the single-bedroom residence where she lived alone.

Authorities suspect a case of murder, suggesting the crime occurred around a week ago. An investigation has been launched, and forensic experts along with a dog squad have been deployed. Additional Commissioner of Police (West Zone), N Satheesh Kumar, confirmed the body's identification and said further details would be provided post-investigation. Mahalakshmi, originally from another state, was living separately from her husband, who worked in a hermitage outside the city.
