A railway employee has been detained on suspicion of theft after 10 detonators went off on a track as a military special train passed through Madhya Pradesh, an official reported on Monday.

The incident occurred on September 18 near Sagphata, prompting a brief halt of the military train for safety checks.

Identified as Sabir, the accused was arrested under the Railway Property (Unlawful Possession) Act. Sabir, a track patrol officer, allegedly stole the detonators, which are non-explosive fog signals meant to alert train drivers to track obstructions. Inspector Sanjeev Kumar confirmed the suspect was intoxicated during the incident.
