A 22-year-old man from Chennai has been detained for allegedly molesting a minor girl on a long-distance train, according to a police official on Monday.
The incident occurred as the CSMT-Chennai Express prepared to depart on Sunday.
“Accused S Ragvendra reportedly touched the girl's back, prompting her to slap him. Despite this, he continued to harass her by placing his hand around her waist. The girl quickly raised an alarm, leading to his capture by the ticket checker and fellow passengers. She officially filed a complaint while the train was between Karjat and Pune,” stated the official.
A case has been registered against Ragvendra, who has now been placed in judicial custody for a 14-day period, as confirmed by the Karjat police station representative.
