In an urgent call for action, Greece's Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis met with his Lebanese counterpart Abdallah Bou Habib in New York to discuss the dire situation in Lebanon. Gerapetritis emphasized Greece's concern about the escalating Middle East crisis and the urgent need for medical aid.
The Greek foreign ministry highlighted the necessity to break the 'vicious cycle of violence and confrontation' and condemned the intensifying Israeli airstrikes that have resulted in mass casualties and a looming humanitarian crisis in Lebanon.
Greece is mobilizing efforts within the EU to provide centralised medical assistance to Lebanon's injured citizens. The escalation has displaced half a million people, overwhelmed hospitals, and led Greece to advise its citizens to leave Lebanon immediately for their safety.
