Elderly Couple's Maintenance Dispute: HC Observes 'Kalyug Has Arrived'

The Allahabad High Court recently commented on the deterioration of societal values, declaring 'Kalyug has arrived,' as it addressed a maintenance dispute involving an elderly couple. Justice Saurabh Shyam Shamshery made the remark while hearing a criminal revision filed by Munesh Kumar Gupta, 80.
He challenged a family court order mandating he pay Rs 5,000 per month in maintenance to his wife, Gayatri Devi. The couple has been embroiled in the dispute over financial support, with Gayatri Devi claiming her husband receives Rs 35,000 monthly pension.
During the September 20 hearing, the court issued a notice to Gayatri Devi, expressing hope for an amicable resolution that satisfies both parties.
