A magisterial inquiry has been ordered into the death of Balaram Rathore, who died near the Revati Shooting Range of the Border Security Force (BSF) in Indore on September 24. District authorities are conducting the probe under Section 196 of the Indian Civil Defence Code 2023, according to an official statement.

Rathore, 45, was overseeing construction work when he suffered bullet wounds. Notably, the shooting range is 2.5 kilometers away by road and 1.5 kilometers by air from the site of the incident. A post-mortem report indicates that the bullet was from a special long-range gun and hit him from top to bottom, causing a fatal injury.

No empty bullet shell was found at the site, and 20 workers present claimed they did not hear any gunfire, adding to the mystery. Rathore, a member of the Kshatriya Kaluta community, has prompted community leaders like Suresh Patel to seek compensation and a government job for the deceased's family.
