UN Calls for Immediate De-Escalation Amid Israel-Lebanon Conflict
The United Nations has called for immediate de-escalation as Israel launches a ground incursion into Lebanon. This escalation has been described as a humanitarian crisis by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. Jens Laerke, UN spokesperson, stressed the urgency of the situation.
The United Nations on Tuesday urged all parties to engage in immediate de-escalation, said Jens Laerke, spokesperson for the UN humanitarian office, as Israel launches a ground incursion into Lebanon.
Speaking at the same briefing in Geneva, Cristhian Cortez of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) said the situation in Lebanon had escalated into a humanitarian crisis.
