In a disturbing incident, a Dalit man's face was blackened, and he was paraded with a garland of shoes around his neck for allegedly stalking a woman in Mandsaur district, police reported on Wednesday.

Following the emergence of videos showing the man being humiliated, a case was promptly registered under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), leading to the arrest of two individuals, according to a police officer.

The incident, described by Superintendent of Police Abhishek Anand, happened earlier last week in Bhaisodamandi village within the Bhanpura police jurisdiction. The Dalit man, shown in the videos half-naked with a blackened face and a shoe garland, was coerced into walking through the village lanes by a group of individuals. The assault followed a complaint filed by a woman on September 29, alleging stalking. The police have registered an FIR against Rameshwar Gurjar, Balchand Gurjar, and others under the SC/ST Act, while both suspects have been detained.
