Acid Attack Sparks Outrage: Refugee Family Targeted

A Syrian refugee, his toddler son, and a Sudanese national were victims of an acid attack in Vikaspuri, West Delhi. The attack, carried out by local Rakesh Kumar, resulted in significant injuries to the child. Police have made an arrest, and the incident has sparked concerns about local violence against refugees.

In a distressing incident near the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees office in Vikaspuri, West Delhi, a Syrian refugee, his 11-month-old son, and a Sudanese national were attacked with acid, claimed to be phenyl, by local resident Rakesh Kumar.

The victims, including toddler Ibrahim, who sustained 10 percent burns, were attended to at Safdarjung hospital. While the men received immediate treatment, the child required further care due to injuries on his chest, neck, and eyes.

Following the attack, law enforcement acted swiftly, arresting Rakesh Kumar. Nevertheless, the case has ignited debate, with criticism towards the light criminal charges filed, highlighting urgent concerns about refugee safety in the area.
