France Demands Clarity on Israel's Attack on UN Peacekeepers
France has summoned Israel's ambassador to explain Israeli forces' fire on UN peacekeepers in southern Lebanon, specifically targeting the Naqoura base. France, which contributes 700 troops to the UNIFIL mission, condemned the attacks as serious international law violations. No French troops have been harmed.
France has issued a formal request for an explanation from Israel regarding an incident where Israeli troops fired upon UN peacekeepers' positions, including the Naqoura base in southern Lebanon. The French foreign ministry made the announcement on Friday, seeking clarity on the matter.
The ministry labeled the attacks as egregious violations of international law and demanded their immediate cessation. France contributes approximately 700 troops to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) mission, although none have been reported injured in the incident.
French officials emphasized that all parties in the conflict hold a responsibility to ensure the safety and protection of peacekeeping personnel deployed in the region.
