The Supreme Court on Monday extended a stay on trial court proceedings against Congress MP Shashi Tharoor over a defamation case for his 'scorpion on Shivling' remark directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
A bench consisting of Justices Hrishikesh Roy and SVN Bhatti allowed Delhi police and the complainant four weeks to reply to Tharoor's plea.
The case centers around whether complainant Rajiv Babbar, a BJP leader, is an aggrieved party, with previous efforts to quash proceedings against Tharoor being refused by the high court.
