Tragic Electrocution Claims Lives of Couple in Chhattisgarh

In Chhattisgarh's Korba district, a couple originally from Odisha tragically died due to electrocution. Bharati Mahanta was hanging clothes when she was electrocuted. Her husband, Duryodhan, was also fatally electrocuted trying to save her. Both were declared dead at the hospital.

A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Chhattisgarh’s Korba district when a couple lost their lives to electrocution. The victims, identified as Duryodhan Mahanta and his wife Bharati, originally hailed from Odisha and resided in Adarsh Nagar within the Kusmunda police station bounds.

The tragedy occurred as Bharati was hanging washed clothes on a metal wire, which unexpectedly conducted electricity. Hearing her cries for help, Duryodhan rushed to assist her but was instantly met with the same fate, confirming a tragic end for both.

The couple was immediately transported to a hospital where medical authorities declared their deaths. Subsequently, their bodies were sent for post-mortem examinations, and their families in Odisha were notified of the ill-fated event.
