Maharashtra Election Code Violations: Reports and Resolutions

A total of 576 code of conduct violations for the Maharashtra assembly elections have been reported via the Election Commission's cVIGIL app. Out of these, 98% have been resolved. Enforcement agencies seized illegal items worth Rs 14.90 crore. Political activities are being monitored to ensure compliance with the Model Code of Conduct.

The Election Commission's cVIGIL app received 576 complaints regarding code of conduct violations in the Maharashtra assembly elections since October 15. An official disclosed this information on Saturday, highlighting the swift action taken by the commission.

Impressively, 563 complaints, or 98%, have seen resolution, as noted by Additional Chief Electoral Officer Kiran Kulkarni. The app has proven effective not only for reporting but also for empowering vigilant citizens with real-time tracking capabilities.

Enforcement agencies have been busy dismantling illegal activities, seizing Rs 14.90 crore worth of illicit money, liquor, drugs, and metals. The crackdown includes removing unauthorized political advertisements and enforcing stringent election codes, even as major political parties gear up for the November 20 polls.
