Heroin Bust: Arrest Made at Mizoram Checkpoint

A man was arrested with heroin worth Rs 7 lakh in Mizoram's Vairengte. Police intercepted a vehicle heading to Silchar and found 239.18 grams of heroin. Lalchhanchuaha was arrested, but the driver, Khundra Pam, fled. A case under NDPS Act was registered and investigations are ongoing.

A significant drug bust took place in Mizoram's Vairengte area, where police apprehended a 38-year-old man with heroin valued at Rs 7 lakh, according to authorities on Sunday.

The incident occurred on Saturday evening when law enforcement officials stopped a vehicle heading towards Silchar at the Vairengte check gate. During a thorough search, they uncovered 239.18 grams of heroin, estimated to be worth Rs 7.17 lakh, as per police statements.

Identified as Lalchhanchuaha from Kolasib's Venglai East, the suspect was detained. Meanwhile, the vehicle's driver, Khundra Pam, 55, also from Kolasib, managed to escape the scene. A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been filed, and investigations are actively underway, police confirmed.
