The Supreme Court on Monday declined a plea to halt the ongoing Grade-I exams held by the Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC), stating that delaying the examinations scheduled for later that day would create chaos.
The court's decision came in response to senior lawyer Kapil Sibal, representing a petitioner, who sought an interim stay on the exams to address concerns about the quota policy being contested in court. The exams aim to fill 563 posts across various government departments.
While the examinations continue, the quota policy, criticized for its impact on scheduled castes, tribes, and backward classes, is under scrutiny at the Telangana High Court, with the court expected to resolve the issue before results are announced.
