Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, on Monday, launched an array of welfare schemes directed at the state’s police force. The initiatives include a 70% rise in uniform allowance and a 25% increase in housing allowance for constables residing in barracks.

Announced during the 'Police Smriti Diwas' event in Lucknow, these measures coincide with the remembrance of police martyrs who bravely sacrificed their lives for the nation, including those killed in a 1959 ambush by Chinese troops. Adityanath revealed additional provisions, such as Rs 10 crore for athlete training, totaling the expenditure to Rs 115 crore.

The Chief Minister further announced a 'corpus fund' of Rs 1,380 crore to maintain police housing and administrative infrastructures, highlighting the government's commitment to supporting law enforcement. Additionally, measures against criminal activities were spotlighted, and tributes were paid to fallen officers at the Police Martyrs Memorial.
