The United States has introduced fresh charges in connection with an attempted plot by Tehran to kidnap and assassinate an Iranian American journalist in New York. This move highlights the indictment of an Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps official, according to court documents released on Tuesday.
U.S. prosecutors previously charged other suspects in this high-profile case, including one individual in 2022, followed by two additional suspects in January 2023. The latest filing, however, did not disclose the identity of the intended victim.
Notably, one of the already charged suspects was apprehended with a rifle outside the residence of journalist and activist Masih Alinejad in Brooklyn, underscoring the tangible threat involved in this case.
